Shop / buck knives fixed blade
In 1902, a young Kansas blacksmith apprentice named Hoyt Buck was searching for a better way to temper steel in order to make it hold an edge for a longer period of time. His unique approach led to the creation of the first Buck Knife. Using worn-out file blades as raw material, Hoyt handcrafted each knife himself. His handiwork gained recognition and appreciation during World War II.
After finishing his naval service, Hoyt's eldest son Al moved from the Pacific Northwest to San Diego, California. In 1945, Hoyt and his wife Daisy joined Al and his young family, and together they established H.H. Buck and Son. Following his father's death, Al continued to operate the custom knife business until incorporating it as Buck Knives, Inc. in 1961. From a young age, Al had introduced his son Chuck to the knife business, and both Chuck and his wife Lori were involved when the company was incorporated.
The introduction of the Model 110 Folding Hunter in 1964 revolutionized the knife industry and positioned Buck Knives as a leader in the field, a position it proudly holds today. Chuck served as President and CEO for many years and handed over leadership to his son, CJ, in 1999. Chuck remained active as Chairman of the Board until his passing in 2015, while Lori now serves on the Board of Directors and is actively involved in Buck promotional events throughout the U.S., continuing Chuck's legacy.
The durable Cleaver Blade of the Buck Knife is 6.35" (16.12cm) long and made of titanium-coated 5Cr15MOV Steel, which is easily sharpened and provides excellent corrosion resistance, edge retention, and strength. The knife's overall length is 12.17" (30.9 cm) and it weighs 9.6 oz (272 g). It is designed with an anti-slip grip, featuring an ergonomically shaped rubberized handle for a secure grip in wet or slippery conditions. For convenient carry, the knife comes with an injection-molded sheath that has an integrated belt loop. Additionally, Buck Knives has offered a lifetime warranty on its products since 1902, reflecting the company's belief in the integrity of its knives.
