Hoyt Buck, a young Kansas blacksmith apprentice, was seeking a better way to temper steel in order to create a knife with a longer-lasting edge. In 1902, he successfully produced the first Buck Knife using his unique approach. Utilizing worn-out file blades as raw material, he crafted each knife by hand. His craftsmanship was highly valued during World War II.

After completing his service in the navy, Hoyt's eldest son Al had moved from the Pacific Northwest to San Diego, California. In 1945, Hoyt and his wife Daisy joined Al and his young family, and they established H.H. Buck and Son. Following the passing of his father, Al continued the custom knife business until incorporating Buck Knives, Inc. in 1961. Al involved his son, Chuck, in the knife business from a young age. When the company was incorporated, Chuck and his wife, Lori, both participated. The introduction of the Model 110 Folding Hunter in 1964 revolutionized the knife industry, establishing Buck Knives as a leader in the field.

Chuck served as President and CEO for many years before passing the reins to his son, CJ, in 1999. He remained active as Chairman of the Board until his passing in 2015. Lori now serves on the Board of Directors and is actively engaged in promotional events across the U.S., carrying on Chuck's legacy.

The Buck Knife features a hand-sharpened 2-7/8" (7.3 cm) drop point blade made of S35VN steel, which is 0.139" (0.356 cm) thick, providing exceptional strength and durability. Designed for hunting, camping, bushcraft, or heavy outdoor use, the knife's full tang handle offers superior grip, even in wet conditions. It is made in the USA using the highest quality materials and workmanship, and is backed by Buck's Forever Warranty, guaranteeing it to be free of defects for life. The genuine leather sheath, also made in the USA, includes a belt loop for easy and secure carrying.
