Shop / buck knives fixed blade
In 1902, a young Kansas blacksmith apprentice named Hoyt Buck developed a unique approach to tempering steel in order to create a knife that would hold an edge longer. Using worn-out file blades as raw material, he handcrafted the first Buck Knife. His craftsmanship was highly valued during World War II. In 1945, after finishing his navy service, Hoyt's eldest son Al moved from the Pacific Northwest to San Diego, California. Hoyt and his wife Daisy joined Al and his young family, and together they established H.H. Buck and Son. Upon his father's passing, Al continued the custom knife business until incorporating Buck Knives, Inc. in 1961.
Al introduced his son, Chuck, to the knife business at a young age, and Chuck and his wife, Lori, both played active roles in the company's incorporation. In 1964, Buck Knives revolutionized the knife industry with the introduction of the Model 110 Folding Hunter, solidifying the company as a leader in the field. Chuck served as President and CEO for many years before passing the reins to his son, CJ, in 1999. Chuck remained active as Chairman of the Board until his death in 2015. Lori now serves on the Board of Directors and continues to be involved in Buck promotional events across the U.S., carrying on Chuck's legacy.
The 663 Alpha Guide features a full tang blade, enhancing the durability of this hunting knife and making it perfect for the rigors of hunting. Its longer blade with a more shallow belly makes it a versatile all-purpose hunting knife, suitable for general outdoor and camp use as well.
Thanks to Buck's renowned heat-treat recipe, the 420HC steel of the 663 Alpha Guide maintains an impressive edge, reducing the need for frequent sharpening in the field. The handle is crafted from glass-filled nylon with Versaflex inlays, a protective coating designed to extend the lifetime of the equipment. The knife comes with an imported black polyester sheath featuring a Buck logo leather accent and belt loop.
